Todd Seifert serves as the communications director for the Great Plains Conference of The United Methodist Church. In that role, he works with a team that tells stories about disciples of Jesus Christ living out their faith in Kansas and Nebraska.
He has more than 20 years of experience teaching Sunday school for ages ranging from 12-year-old youth-group members to 90-somethings. His experiences include facilitating multiple levels of the popular Disciple Bible Study and the Covenant Bible Study. He is a certified instructor for BeADisciple.com, an online learning tool provided by the Richard and Julia Wilke Institute for Discipleship.
In his first career, Todd worked as a journalist for more than 20 years with the Gannett Company, the founding company of USA Today. He worked at newspapers in Minnesota, Missouri and Utah, with the final 14 years as executive editor of the newspaper in St. George, Utah. His background includes daily and weekly newspapers, the launch and redesign of websites, the introduction of video to document breaking news, social media integration into news gathering and dissemination, as well as magazine publishing.
In the local church, he has served in various leadership roles such as church council chair, finance chair and education chair. He is proud to have served in leadership roles in a vibrant church start in St. George, Utah, and in a successful church revitalization effort in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He is married to his high school sweetheart, the Rev. Amy Seifert, who currently serves Central United Methodist Church in Lawrence, Kansas. They have a daughter who played basketball while earning her degree at UC-Colorado Springs and a son who is a junior baseball player at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
